When I do barn chores, I always listen to something that intrigues me. I found Liz Bagwell’s podcast through Mark Sleeper by the way of Kori Biller (a Liz Bagwell fan). Mark mentioned how Liz teaches the science behind restoration and wholeness of the mind. She also proves science through scripture. I was very intrigued about how the two could actually meet and agree when I was raised to think they are complete opposites.
The idea of changing your brain and restoring your mind using neuroscience plus scripture can set you free.
Here is what I learned:
1.Gratitude– Start with gratitude and it will change the way you think because of Hebb’s law. Hebb’s Law, also known as the Hebbian theory, states that neurons that fire together, wire together.
1 Thesalonians 5:18- No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
Psalm 107:1- O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.
Phillipians 4:6-9- Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
2.Prayer- Add prayer with it. Example: Thank God for something.
Mark 11:24- (MSG) Jesus was matter-of-fact: “Embrace this God-life. Really embrace it, and nothing will be too much for you. This mountain, for instance: Just say, ‘Go jump in the lake’—no shuffling or hemming and hawing—and it’s as good as done. That’s why I urge you to pray for absolutely everything, ranging from small to large. Include everything as you embrace this God-life, and you’ll get God’s everything. And when you assume the posture of prayer, remember that it’s not all asking. If you have anything against someone, forgive—only then will your heavenly Father be inclined to also wipe your slate clean of sins.”
Romans 8:26-28- Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.
I Thessalonians 5:17- Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.
3.Superpower- Who did God make you to be when serving Him? You have a God given superpower. What is it that is different than others? Embrace it and use it for God’s glory.
Those 3 things will restore your brain (rewire it). Isn’t that what Wonderhill Farm is all about? Galatians 3:26- So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
